Dr. J. Venkata Pirabu, born on 24th July 1963, is an accomplished academic and professional with over 31 years of dedicated service in the field of education, extension research, outreach, Administration and corporate social responsibility.
With 31 years of teaching experience, he has made significant contributions in academic journey. His involvement in research spans 29 years, gained expertise in Media communication and Management.
He has put forth 22 years of experience in Outreach demonstrating a strong commitment to community engagement and practical outreach. He has held various administrative positions over the past 30 years, showcasing his leadership capabilities and organizational expertise.
His exceptional commitment to teaching, research, and academic mentorship throughout his career of teaching, he has handled a total of 101 UG,PG and PhD courses, reflecting his expertise across subject areas. He has successfully supervised 18 postgraduate students and 8 doctoral scholars, contributing to the advancement of academic research.
He offered career guidance and counseling to 100s of students in extra-academic capacities, playing the mentorship role beyond the formal curriculum by roping in admission for UG Degrees programmes . He has actively engaged in professional and academic development, participating in 33 national seminars, symposia, conferences, and refresher courses, 9 international symposia .
The individual has held numerous academic and administrative positions over a distinguished career. Starting as an Identified UG Teacher from 1995 to 1996 for 1 year and 4 months, Placement Officer across three terms (1996–1998, 2005–2008, and 2023–2025) totaling 9 years.
Concurrently, holded the position as Sanitary Monitoring Officer, NCC Programme Officer, and Cultural Coordinator between 1996 and 2013, with 18 years exclusively as Cultural Coordinator.
From 1998 to 2005, he served both as a UG Identified Teacher and Vehicle Officer, PG Coordinator in 2005 for a year and as Sanitary Monitoring Officer from 2005 to 2007 .Served as Technical Officer to the Director of Students’ Welfare and the Director of Open & Distance Learning (2007–2013) In 2014,
Public Relations Officer for a year and Unit Head for Educational Media Centre for 9 years. Served as Nodal Officer for the KVK Cell in 2013.
From 2015 to 2017, simultaneously held roles as Professor (Educational Cell), Research Coordinator, and Professor and Head (Research Station, in charge)
Occupied the post of Professor & Head (Training Division) from 2017 to 2019 for 2 years. Served as Director, Planning & Monitoring (2019–2022) for 3 years and 5 months.
With the same period and token, he held several in-charge posts: Registrar (26 days), Comptroller (113 days), Director of Research (7 days), Director Seeds (7 days), Director, Centre for Plant Breeding (40 days), Director, Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (10 days), Director, Centre for Plant Molecular Biology (1 day), and Special Officer (Vigilance and Disciplinary Proceedings) for 12 days.
The individual has actively contributed to various academic and administrative committees throughout the career. Served as a Member of the Purchasing Committee for 4 years and as a Staff Executive Committee Member for an extended period of 12 years., Alumni Executive Committee Member for 2 years.
His involvement in student activities includes serving as Staff Associate for the Debating Society for 7 years, as well as holding the roles of Ward Counselor for 3 years and Warden for 2 years.
Served as PG Coordinator for 6 months and as an Identified Teacher for 2 years. His governance roles include being a member of the Academic Council at both Telangana Agricultural University for 2 years and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) for 3 years.
Chaired the Grievance Redressal Committee for 3 years, reflecting a strong commitment to institutional governance

As an organizing committee member, Conducted 55 programmes and played the role of anchor in 4 events and comparer in 78 programmes.
Placed 1,653 students (Diploma, UG, PG, and PhD) through 11 job fairs and 36 campus interviews. Served as member of the Selection Committee for contractual and casual labour services for 3 years.
His contributions to infrastructure and institutional development are noteworthy. Established a Multimedia Mobile Lab worth ₹1.35 crores, a Faculty House costing ₹69 lakhs, and an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Administrative Building at a cost of ₹84 lakhs.
Infrastructure development under their leadership totaled ₹2.44 crores, while he also generated ₹7.87 crores in research scheme funds and mobilized ₹63 crores in government funds as Director of Planning and Monitoring (DPM). Additionally, established an exhibition centre worth ₹1.5 lakhs.
His work in educational media and ICT is impressive, with 1,750 video programmes produced, 2,316 video lessons created, 17 video training classes conducted, and 1,005 technology-based videos uploaded to the cloud. and gave voice over for nearly 50 short documentaries. Facilitated the training of 6,500 officers in ICT tools, issued 236 press notes, made 56 engagement announcements, organized 5 press meets, conducted 14 press advertisements and fairs, and carried out 14 radio/TV recordings. Also managed 132 VIP visits and coordinated 209 campus visits.
In academic roles, he served as Professor (Education) for 2 years, Research Coordinator for 1 year, Professor and Head (Training Division) for 1 year and 6 months, Warden for 7 months, Chief Block Level Coordinator and Block Level Task Force Officer for 2 years each, Web Designer for 2 years, and Content Validator for 1 year. Also organized 33 trainings and served as organizing committee member for an additional 39 programmes.
Furthermore, served as Nodal Officer for IQAC, the Faculty Development Cell, the School of Finishing and Grooming, and the Lateral Thinking Cell. Coordinated ICAR Accreditation for 2018–2023 and led NAAC data compilation efforts.
Notably, his leadership helped the institution's ICAR ranking bounce back from 33rd to 8th place in two times. Currently serving as an Adjunct Professor from July 31, 2023, to May 31, 2025.
Now assumed the office of the Principal, The Nalanda College of Agriculture, Trichy, since 9th June, 2025
